Patreon
I’ve gotten a few suggestions/requests that I start a Patreon campaign for Next Town Over. I balked, as it seems largely redundant with the neglected Grubstakers’ Circle (more like I’m irritated Patreon came along after I’d spent the time trying to bodger together the Grubstakers’ Circle, which is supposed to function similarly, on my own).
But I’m not going to argue if folks want to provide me with another revenue stream — I could use it. So here you go; have at it.
It’s not terribly well fleshed-out currently, but I would love to hear your thoughts on potential goals & premiums.
And hey, speaking of Patreon, I just myself backed this podcast, which, coincidentally, you can give a listen (for free) for a lot more human insight into Patreon itself.
Regards,
Erin
It strikes me as strange that most of the rewards for these continuous donations are one-time rewards (books, wallpapers, etc) but I’ve never donated to a Patreon before, maybe that works.
I will say, I’d be happy to see the $5,500 level reached, but nothing else is particularly interesting to me. If it ever comes close, put up a post and I’d probably put in a few dollars.
Er. Well if everyone were to take that position $50 is unattainable, nevermind $5500.
It’s important not to see the rewards as “purchases” but rather as “thank-yous”; your “purchase” is the comic itself, which is getting increasingly difficult to put out consistently with the demands on my time.
Also: “one-time” rewards are just how Patreon is set up; there is currently no alternative. Which isn’t to say I might not independently extend additional benefits to continued patrons if this catches on.
Antifinity I think you need to look up the word Patron. The rewards are nice but you do it to see the continuation and growth of something you enjoy. While I can’t spare much, I look at how much I would spend on a paper comic and think it’s worth at least a small donation to help the creator of something original and fantastically drawn.
Your support (financial and explanatory) is super appreciated. Thanks so much.
