Remember now, people, Lion is a dog. We can be quite sure his maiming (or even death) will not justify whatever is about to happen to ‘Pa’. And John will live to regret it.
Well, first of all, Lion is John’s best friend. I agree that human life has a bigger value than a dog’s life, but a friend is worth far more than a guy that punched you in the face. What will happen is not justice, it’s revenge. Also: we can be quite sure that the bite Pa received after punching John shouldn’t justify Lion’s maiming or death. Yet, it’s also revenge.
Two wrongs don’t make a right. As grievously hurt as poor Hunter may be over what this vile man is doing to his dog, there is no innate rate to maim or kill a human being over it. All it will bring is more pain and suffering on others that didn’t deserve it.
Saibot has on his side (Bxe and Vectivus) too) nearly every philosopher and religion throughout history … but he’s out of touch with modern trends, whereby folks would rather fund healthcare for cute animals than dying children in almost all psych studies. Remember, Pa got bit pretty bad by the dog, and how’s that vengeance thing working out for him? Hunter and Lion were fixin’ to clear out of town, so what’s the point?
It’s not a matter of cute or not. The dog is being harmed for doing what he was trained to do, and protecting his owner. Pa is just a straight up asshole murdering and torturing the creature to death. We can argue whether or not John’s reaction (whatever it may be) is justified, but whatever the argument, Pa’s clearly is monstrous.
I hope Hunter’s righteous anger stays hot enough to keep him warm in a lonely bed after his lovely lady drops him like a bad habit for murdering the crap out of her father. ~shruh~
Don’t tell me he’s dragging the dog 🙁
Well something’s tied to that rope, so I’m afraid he is. I’m not going to feel sorry for him, no matter what happens to him.
He has flint for brains, and has just struck it against indomitable steel.
Ok, stuff just got very real–and he has NO idea who he’s messing with, not really!

No, Lion is a living creature, and torturing him to death absolutely deserves revenge in a wild west style justice system.

I dunno about justification, but I know that there isn’t much that could happen to Pa at this point that would draw my sympathy.

Yup … Pa’s a willful sinner … even compared to the rest of us. As the titular character in Unforgiven put it, “We’ve all got it comin’, kid.”

Heh. Anyone catch this? https://www.nexttownover.net/?p=533
You’re talking about panel number four, right?
