When in doubt, go for the biggest target. Besides, a ventilated Dodge probably wouldn’t be much help even if he wanted to.

BTW, love panel four. Not only does it look cool, I really like the details such as the noses of the bullets visible at the front of the cylinder.

Probably cheaper to do, and PETA doesn’t have much of a fit, I guess.

It’s almost a bit of a trademark for this setting. The quality of the artwork makes it look good, but at the same time it hurts to look at. xP

Aww, I promise you that Squidbunny isn’t that way in real life! She’d totally rather die than hurt an animal, and has ridden horses numerous times without so much as aiming a slingshot at them. Killing horses, however, is a nice way to increase dramatic tension without creating “red shirt” human extras just so they can die. Also, it’s simply true that in the old west, horses were not highly thought of– they were tools, gear, livestock. A cowboy’s saddle was worth more than his horse. Finally, at least Squidbunny gives the horses in the comic expressions and feelings, so you really empathize with them.

I agree completely. It’s purely a great dramatic tactic. That there’s no ill-intent has certainly been clarified when it’s been brought up in the past, but it doesn’t hurt to re-emphasize that fact. 🙂

No disrespect to the horses but these’d be short stories if main characters kept getting shot down in the first few panels.
I wonder what the Injuns are doing in this world?

Dodge should have rode off instead of chatting ! I wonder if the other horse didn’t run off already ?
