@wr4ith0 (couldn’t reply to your comment ) this is a hiatus like “The Great War” -pick one- was a minor disagreement. Calling this a hiatus is gross mis-statement. I suppose that compared to Next Town Over it might be considered a lighter weight piece. But the story is great and the art perfectly illustrates it. What I’d like to read is the story the author wrote!
It’s not — Ms. Black, that is. It didn’t even occur to me until looking at the comments that those boots could be misleading because of the monochrome sepia. Now I’m sort of smacking myself. D’oh!
Imagine how she would feel, waking up in a room plastered with her entire story on the walls. And the dead guy…that would be weird. If you ever need another hiatus, you could give us her story!
I wonder if her story will still be on the walls. I think the black swirl might be her author’s “ink” just as the white looks like his soul/lifeforce. Even without the words, though, the situation could be very weird for her. Then again, we know nothing about her or what she might or might not know…
No way it could be Vane Black, we know she was a human being due to the flash backs. could this genevievie be a charecter that shows up in the main story?
Excellent writing and a very smart final turn of the screw. Even if some of us readers foretold Genevieve becoming alive, I don’t think anyone –not me, for sure– has got this one right.
So, the authors soul is being used to fuel the creation of Genevieve, directly, instead of figuratively? Looks to me like the essence drawn from the Author is being transferred into or used in the creation of her physical form, anyway.
I’m continually amazed by the quality of both the art and the story here.
Did anybody call this? This is awesome, and it was all written before we even had a chance to debate the outcome…
I didn’t “call it,” exactly, but I did wonder out loud if it would happen.

Absolutely wonderful ending! Thank you, Squidbunny, for this!
But guys guys guys, it’s not actually over yet. 2 more pages!
even better! π
nice call, and damn good execution. How the hell is this a hiatus?

i do believe i called it
A W E S O M E -ness -tness -ness !! !! !!
The story is beautiful and the art amazing! Thank you *bow*.
I…..didn’t expect this one.
So apparently, even though we debated the outcome of some things, the author manages to throw us off guard. I like that.
HOLY CRAP, WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?!
I surely didn’t foresee this, so I am way surprised! Also, love the art!!
Wait, is thatβ!?
Actually hoping it’s not Ms. Black (probably not) but a unique and new character inhabiting the same Weird West universe.
I like the idea of a supernatural character born (“ink-born”?) from the creative process.

Insert joke about Cher’s music.

Best. Hiatus. Ever.

May you please do a tutorial series on how you make your artwork so darn coool?—I love your drawing style
Gorgeous final panel!
the funny thing is that I can speak french so I can understand what he says.
at least he was kind enough to bring her to life
Whoa… π―
The hyperliteral demon inserted its own turn of phrase into the bargain. To what end??
Mr. Author said “potentially endless” before the demon did — check panel 2 on that page.
well, at least he’s not being a dick about it
That’s yet to be seen. π
