Never underestimate the power of small calibers if artfully used. Also, did the kid get older. He always looked younger than this before he was about to be killed.
I think it’s just art evolution. We haven’t seen a detailed closeup of his face since Ch2 really when he was introduced, and there is a radical improvement over Erin’s already impressive technique.
The Designer is always the BEST Saboteur! It didn’t occur t’Me that Diamonds Needed to take on Fuel that way, but it Stands to Reason. This is Science Fiction not Outright Fantasy here. Magic and Science have to Follow the Rules here. I don’t Doubt that Either escapes th BIG Rule: T.A.N.S.T.A A,F.L. This Video, Unfortunately, cut off Just before “Mr. Jones” (Patrick Mac Goohan) delivers the BEST Line IN Ice Station Zebra:
The Captain (Rock Hudson) – Since When do You Know s0 Much about Submarines?!! Mr. Jones (Mc Goohan) – I know Nothing, Whatever, about Submarines! I know How to Destroy Them.
Ah yes… the “near miss that hits something potentially flammable”. I know it well. Seems like this kid has not yet been introduced. I suspect that Missus Hunter is about to remedy that sad state of affairs.
It’s not a near miss, the water tank was her target. Those are bullets she packed will lye, check out Baron’s Crossing page 4 to see what they do when coming into contact with water.
Just discovered this comic on Indy Planet and bough the first 6 issues. Fantastic story and art so far. I am planning to buy the hardback books soon. Just for the art alone. Is this series ending soon? Is there going to be a volume 3 or is this volume 3?
Hey Aaron. Indy Planet is an interesting place to have found the book. The hardcovers are the first 8 books; the book currently running on the site here is #13 and yes it is the last. I plan to collect 9-13 into a final print volume when it’s all sewn up. Thanks for the kind words and thanks for reading!
No, Manabi was right. That’s a water tank, and a caustic potash round is coming. (The only kind of combustible oil that exists in the Next Town Over universe is of the coal oil/kerosene type — not particularly inflammable. It burns but isn’t apt to explode. And Diamonds was rebuilt as a steam engine. That’s water.)
Someone’s about to get educated.
Someone else may have already figured that out.
She demonstrated the lye bullets to him in Baron’s Crossing page 4, so he probably has.
I like where this is going. I’m also thinking about the appropriate pun. Maybe:
This comic might not be well known yet, but the next page will definitely blow up…
“Tune in next time on Next Town Over where explosive secrets are revealed!”

Oh, she knows what that thing’s built like, alright…

Follow up with an explicitly ncendiary round.
