So we know that Markus the cowboy and Flint the Republic sharpshooter are still around. We saw Inspector DeFoix, the Pinkerton and Professor Crawford, the last Airbender in a previous scene. That’s four on one, which seems a fair fight given Vane’s ingenuity and determination. The wild card is when the Amazon Warrior Stone Hears Nothing and her anime pal CycloneDancer show up. We need to see if they tip the scales and save the day.
I gotta say, after seeing first-hand what both Vane and Hunter can do, I just can’t imagine hunting them down for *any* amount of money. These folks cut a fine line between avarice and insanity.
Perhaps our long gunners are motivated by more than money and just want to end them, given what they’ve done. Or maybe they’re simply cocky, perhaps based on past results. Don’t forget that these guys are operating at range and have EXCELLENT cover.
“Indeed, Madam.” That sounds like DeFoix. Yes, I’ve been waiting for the Suntouched contingent to show up. Sister Caligula (or whatszername), Lee Cobb, and Jasper Jackson could also be out there somewhere.
They have NO Idea! “… Given what My Husband and I have demonstrated ourselves Capable Of.” They are Not facing the Demon Vanity Black, who considered Them All an Annoying Distraction, from Her Sole Compulsion to DESTROY John Henry. They will Face the Full Wrath and Fury of Mrs. Vane Hunter!
But they also are not facing the Demon Vanity Black who could take a bullet through the head, leaving a gaping exit wound on her forehead, and get up and fight back. JHH pointed that out just before he cashed in his chips. She’s vulnerable now.
How many of Them are There for Vane [rather then Hunter,] Have engaged the Demon Directly, and would Know the Difference? Defoix possibly. If He is that Blacksmith, who Survived a Forge Invasion, He is Well Aware of What They are Capable Of I believe That is the Correct Pronoun Gere..
The blacksmith is Jasper Jackson. De Foix is the railroad cop. Lee Cobb, the horse breeder from Whiskey Bend, is out there too, and Professor Amaranth Crawford, and probably the nasty old nun. Then too, Stone Hears Nothing and Cyclonedance are still on their way. With Coyote having done his mischief and departed, what side(s) will they take, or will they just be spectators?
That nun is seeking revenge for a brother mind-raped and sacrificed in an unholy rite after she and he had taken JHH in and cared for him … I shall forgive her a bit of crankiness when it comes to this pair.

Quoting one of my other favorite webcomics, Homestuck:
“While I continue to not be a gambling man, I’m reasonably sure that, if I was, I wouldn’t bet against her.”

You have a definite point there! If I heard that either of them were in the same county as me, I’d be out of there.

You mean hiding behind the horse that has been fatally injured how many times?
OK, I just assumed that THIS TIME Diamonds was forever immobilized until chopped up for scraps.
No, ‘e’s gone the way of the norwegian blue. Headed to the great pasture in the sky, kicked the last bucket and made the bad guy not like that.
RIP, Diamonds. You had a good long run.
No!!! Diamonds are forever!!! Even Neil, who has a surprisingly inoffensive Broadway show about his life.
Do I hear a “but” coming? I think I do…
