Their brands were still on fire and their hooves were made of steel Their horns were black and shiny and their hot breath he could feel A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky He saw the riders coming hard And he heard their mournful cry
Frankie Laine’s was the most famous revival of that tune. I learned the original version (sung by Stan Jones and the Death Valley Rangers) off the radio when I was a three-year-old in 1949.
Nukes are nice, I guess. I prefer a small stick. By small I mean about 1km long and 200m in diameter moving at a nice double-digit percentage of C. It really does a nice job at redecorating.
The most fun name for that’s “Rods from God,” and there’s also “Project Thor.” The more boring names are “kinetic strike” and “kinetic bombardment.” (The latter being the title Wikipedia uses for the concept.)
BFH. The best of all those. Tough call which had the best use in fiction. Pfootfall, Anathema and some others over the eons…the prequel books for Schlock Merc’ that Webber has some accurate (heh) technically use of them. Aside: Project Thor is the name of the project and first conceptual presentation of such an attack method I am aware of. Americans, wanting nukes but don’t want to be blamed for rads so find a way.
moo. moooOOOoooOooOoo *cue scooby doo music* i’m both happy and sad to see this series winding up, i loved hell’s corners, i love this , and i’m positive i’ll love what you make next. you’re an inspiration
Oh, my favorite family game. “Raise the Dead!” And it’s Moo Moo’s to!
“Raise the Dead” being a reference to Addam’s Family… but is “Moo Moo’s” a reference to Bloodthorn’s First Contact?
Mongo not know. Mongo only pawn in game of life.
Well done to do a Blazing Saddles reference
That’s how they got in this particular mess in the first place!
Well! This look promising! 😀 I do love All-Hallow’s Evening, and who doesn’t like good old-fashioned rustic western decor?

A bolt of fear went through him as they thundered through the sky
He saw the riders coming hard
And he heard their mournful cry
“Yippie-ki-aye Mother-Fu…”
…oops! Wrong reference! :0
I knew Frankie Laine[0]; you, sir, are no Frankie Laine!

Mooooving right along . . .
that’s a lot of long horn skulls….. someone is not doing a very good job cleaning up
That’s not what cowboys mean when they talk about “raising cattle” …
Well, not most. New a necromancer cowboy…had some odd critters in that herd.
Nuke the entire site from orbit … it’s the only way to be sure.
That was Ripley, believe it or not.

You’re the sort of person who gives technical critiques on the SMOD versus Cthulu debate, aren’t you?
I approve.
Never heard of it. Honest. 🙂
So JHH was responsible for the cows coming home.
Head ’em up, move ’em out!
