… or a Part of it. It was “Made with Love” and Gifted to Him! If it, Just Now, was Returned to Her, then perhaps She can Now Die. At the very Least it appears to have thrown her for a Loop. The Unstoppable Juggernaut of Vengeance now looks Vulnerable! If we believe that a Soul can NOT be Destroyed, and an Incomplete Soul can not Move On, did Giving JHH a Piece of Her’s leave Vanity Vulnerable to Daemonic Possession?
It’s possible. Back in Via Dolorosa when Vane starts up again a tiny speck of pale blue is in her eyes. In the Chimney when Vane has the watch open however, the light that emanates is dark blue. I would hazard a guess that the watch contained Vane’s soul while Hunter’s (or at least a part of it) was in her body, acting as a conduit to connect her soul to her body. The demon told Coyote that her body was not in any condition to house a human soul, and that it’s presence was all which held it together.
My guess then is that Hunter could not die so long as Vane’s unlife persisted, and that would last as long as the watch remained intact.
Whoops, scratch that. His soul isn’t in the watch
Love this comic! This couple! They deserve each other, and we deserve them. 🙂
Plot Twist!
…am I thinking that perhaps the watch contained *her* soul???

Perhaps it’s in his spine. What better place to store it than in a nigh-indestructible steel spine?

A pair of family graves near the house — appropriate!
Maybe they’ve been there all along.
Right. On page 2. I mistook them for pieces of a broken rail fence.
