Mizz Black is un-amused. I don’t understand why after this amount of time, and the number of times Vane has been shot, people still don’t understand YOU CAN’T KILL HER. Now, there’s a reason why our poker playing harlot doesn’t have her finger in the trigger of her peace maker. Haven’t figured that one out yet.
[meta] Circumstances world-wide mitigate against anyone’s expectations of others’ performance having merit. Every page is worth waiting for, whenever it comes.
This chapter is going to be Vane meeting every single person our protagonists have angered during their travels, and politely telling them all to go back home. Which they promptly do. Mark my words.
If that’s the case this is a key chapter in the saga of NTO, as there are a lot of pissed off folks looking for these two. This might make the duel at the O K Coral look like a pleasant day in Central Park.
The perfesser shall likely convince our strumpet to tackle one soulless abomination at a time … it’ll make the boss confrontation more amusing … or, if Vane;s building something when it happens, perhaps even literally riveting. Hot rivets in a rivet gun would also compliment Hunter’s abilities nicely.
If so Lucas, that’s a good point. I presume you are referring to Diamonds longevity? I think all the is left of the horse is its heart which Vane somehow managed to sew it into the metal monstrosity it beats in now.
Longevity is an interesting point, now that you said, Diamonds is as resilient as Hunter. But I mean the moment Hunter assured Diamonds that he would not run out of steam in this moment (https://www.nexttownover.net/?p=4395). After this load of magical fire energy, the grilles of our iron horse’s boiler began to exude flames in abundance, as if it were cast iron.
To be fair to those on-page, they generally don’t have a good ‘before’ image to compare against. They also don’t know that the wings of flame are due to JHH’s infusion of eternal fire, as opposed to being another upgrade that Vane has implemented herself.
Vane’s look in the last panel just screams “Bless Your Heart.”

Pointing a pistola at an undead might be an unwise move, especially one with an enchanted projectile propeller.

A hammer looking at a mirror.
Ahem! …. TICK TOK?
Darwinism: When you threaten an unkillable undead woman riding atop her personal steam-engine horse the size of a locomotive… with a pistol.
Darwin Award.

That … is a MISTAKE.
I’m amazed that no one in the story or in the comments has noticed that Diamonds is radiating the extra power Hunter has given him.

Good spot there. I hadn’t noticed that until the next page.
It looks like he added some ĆÔÝÖŤĒ magic to whatever was already going on with Diamonds.

If Hunter created a phylactery it’s almost certainly his watch.
