Not sure what the little igloo looking thing is Vane is kneeling next to. Looks like a little adobe oven she’s warming her hand on. This is a bit confusing because she’s, well, she’s dead. I mean. I know she escaped from the cold water of the well in the fort, or what’s left of it. Still, if she’s dead what does it matter if it’s cold. I must say though again how beautiful the art work is. Vane looks a little different on this page. I see the black hole in her forehead is gone. I like that, but I can’t put my finger on it, The illustrations are so wonderfully classic Disney cartoons of the late 50’s, early 60’s. Now those I consider high art just like this web comic.
Yeah, I can see that could be. There seems to be a groove cut into the top of it , so maybe it is some sort of furnace to melt metal. If that’s what it is, that’s a damn good call me Lady. Also appears to be drying her poncho and hat.
That is definitely an Adobe (also known as Cob) oven for concentrating heat-it needs to cook itself into the proper consistency foe awhile, then Vane will have a decent forge for Smithing steel. She will need the right grade of charcoal though, and some decent Coke (the mineral. not the drink)’
I can only hope that there’s enough of the Original leg to repair as a new one from scratch may take a long, long time…
BTW, even with just scrap wood, Cob ovens make awesome pizzas (i’ve made a few for interested parties as a hobby) and once the cob is fully cured through you can haul them around-just treat them as you would treat any pottery cargo and you’ll be fine.
So this leads me to think that Erin is very astute to many things that are needed to create this graphic on line novel. Which means Erin, you’re one smart cookie. Boy do we love this comic.
If not for order99’s comment, about the finished Forge being portable, and pack-able, I think that little operation could have Vane stationary for a while. That screeching seems to have twigged the Deamon’s interest, though, and by the same token, unless she has to scavenge for materials, J.H.H. isn’t going anywhere either.
WOW! a new look here– and a horse with a wheel to go along. Fascinating- what is next??
Diamonds is just gonna wind up turning into a car at this rate.

Dear Jsfury, she is modeling the furnace yet, the second picture shows this, the clay is wet.
This would make sense Lucas. Thanks for pointing that out. Good eye sir, good eye.
I’m guessing the little dome is for melting metal for making replacement horse parts.

Order99, can you whip up a white garlic pizza for me? 😉
Is Vane finishing up the shape of the cob or is she checking the temperature?
The first option. Look the second picture, the clay is wet yet.
I saw that and STILL didn’t have confidence in the obvious conclusion. Thanks, Lucas. I needed that, and perhaps a good slap upside the head.
