So Stone self exiled herself. That’s interesting. she’s at odds with the elders of the tribe perhaps? There are so many questions to this story that keep me coming back. Mark of a great story teller.
We don’t know if Hunter knows Cayote or is in some way connected/empowered by him. I get the feeling that Cayote is very real in this world and for even someone like Hunter to play with him would be very stupid. Hunter would very aware of what a pissed off Cayote would do to him if he brings destruction onto his chosen people.
He probably has some connection and is playing it off for his benefit. Still I would not be surprised if the real Cayote shows up to play his own tricks.
Her story sounds interesting. Probably 1) She does not approve of the terms of the peace treaty, as it shows weakness in the face of encroachers. In her opinion this weakness only encourages more theft. 2)Some form of arranged marriage or social norm placed her in a position of powerlessness and she would not accept the decision of the elders. 3) She had some form of lethal violence escalation with a prominent clan member. Similar to when the 2 ranchers escalated violence and she killed them in 3 seconds. She left to avoid the fallout.
And Vane shall follow him into the heart of these poor people, and their would-be champion will be the one responsible for that AND for the subsequent punitive military expeditions.
If his magic isn’t enough to convince, I doubt they’ll just believe him for speaking their language as well
I’s have to think the mere act of making his demon horse disappear would be pretty convincing.

Wow guys, such hypothesizing. Good scenarios. But, but, what about the posse? What the hell happened to them?
I just feel bad for the tribe and council. God knows what bloodshed Hunter and Vane will wreak upon them.
