I feel the discussion in the flashback is JHH being surprised Vanity didn’t take his name after they were married, but he isn’t wearing a wedding ring.
And modern day Dr. Hunter-Black looks badass. Please, someone cosplay her at conventions this summer!
Most “Man with no Name” like. Cept she’s a woman. Was a woman. Oh hell. I’m all confused now. Did ya all notice the skulls around the edge of the poncho?
I was confused about the flashback until I realized that it was post-marriage. She being known as Vane Black all this time it is easy to forget that her legal name would be Vane Hunter.
And yes, the present-day depiction of her is awesome. Kudos Erin.
Have to agree with the general consensus here regarding the outfits. Very cool. Once again, Vane is dressed to kill. Yet, she never really can it seems. These two are forever locked in mortal combat, but never dieing. What kind of hell is that. Just that. Hell.
I was going to add my voice to the pile of people here who are greatly impressed with the new chapter’s costuming. Erin, your starting point was the best looking webcomic I’ve seen anywhere – with a compelling story to boot! – but you’ve just kept getting better. I’m sad that eventually Vane and Hunter’s story has to end, but hopeful that there will be more stories afterwards.
But I said “was going to”. In fact, I was going to say something like “these costumes are some of the best images we’ve seen of Vane and Hunter, and to see them together in the last panel as you’ve done here is just awesome – and I particularly like the black vs. white, death vs. flame motif that has us continually second-guessing which of our two primary actors is the hero, if either.” But instead, I realized that this isn’t the best image of these two characters… because this is the first look at them together in these two outfits. And knowing Vane, Hunter, and Erin, I’m hopeful that there will be an action scene here in Via Dolorosa that captures our two heroes in motion. 🙂
Just how in the hell did these two end up getting married, anyhow? Seems like they’re fighting/arguing in every flashback we see. Must have been one hell of a love affair for them to get hitched despite the night-and-day difference.
I have been reading this comic for god knows how long, and there is still a minimum of one page every chapter that makes me go WHAAAAT!?
In deed. Sometimes two 😀

aren’t male wedding rings a relatively recent invention? like, post-wwII?
I’ll agree that’s some fine costuming work going on there. Must be Sunday, everyone’s in their best.
Seriously though I love that poncho/wrap she’s wearing.

Add me to the “Damn that clothing” crowd. Too awesome.
Your attention to detail is amazing! the patterns on the clothing shows a lot of skill!
I have to second everyone. The skulls on the poncho are nice, and I like how Hunter casually lights his cig with his finger…
Oh, just WOW! I am so impressed with the art. 😀 Swoon………..
Vane Black, villain or hero, she’s still awesome.

Very much obliged for all the kind words, everyone!
You’re velcome. 😉 And thank you Erin. Again I love the lapel pins. 😀

You’ve never been married, I see.
“Make love, not war.”
“Do both, get married.”
haha, I am married actually, for 11 years now. We get along very well!
Maybe they have great make up sex? O.o
