So, he sealed a demon into her wife (perhaps unknowingly) to revive her. Now that the demon’s gone, will she stay dead? Have all this effort been in Vane? (badum-tss)

Wait…are we actually seeing a webcomic with a denouement?

    Someone fetch my fainting couch!

Prediction: Vane’s inner daemon is gone, and she is restored back to life only for Hunter’s life sustaining watch thing to finally wind down and it all ends in tears.

Because honestly, even if both Vane and Hunter survive, and decide they want to be together, they’re going to have to spend the rest of their lives running from the Law, all of the enemies they’ve made along the way (whatever happened to that doctor?) and the mysterious Agency that keeps offering “Dead or Alive” rewards?

They’ve already been doing that for quite a while – if not before Vane’s resurrection (she was, after all, doing mad science-y stuff), certainly afterward – I think that if they do both remain alive, they’ll be quite content to continue running together.

I don’t think this is the resolution of anything, I’d say it’s closer to a mid-play scene. Definitely raises more questions that it answers. Who is this demon? What is the prison of decay it refers to (Vane’s body)? Has it truly been destroyed, or just uh sealed? Have they met before? Is the demon controlling Vane, or the other way around? Aaaaah

My personal theory is that the “demon” is in fact Vane’s soul, or what’s left of it, twisted by dark magic and her hatred. Throughout the comic, Vane demonstrates a degree of behavior that seems at odds with (the admittedly scant) details given of the demons. She still seems to retain her memories and personality in life when she was in her body, and behaves most like her old self most often when Hunter is not around. Then there is her fondness for Diamonds, and the fact that up until she point she’s never shown the slightest interest or ability in magic. In short, the evidence suggests that the monstrosity is in some fashion or another, actually Vane.

That’s kinda what I figure too. Hunter thought he was bringing his wife back but he only brought back a revanant that can only focus on killing him.

The phantom horse is gone, too.

The Via Dolorosa is a road of sorrow. Resurrection? Calls for repentance big time, I was told.

There’s just some things you can not exist long enough to repent for even if you repent with every waking hour. Certainly going to be intensely interesting to see where this road of sorrows leads from here, though.

Repentance is easier than you would think. Essentially, it’s changing how one thinks.

Easton’s Bible Dictionary says this on it:

        ” Repentance

There are three Greek words used in the New Testament to denote repentance. (1.) The verb _metamelomai_ is used of a change of mind, such as to produce regret or even remorse on account of sin, but not necessarily a change of heart. This word is used with reference to the repentance of Judas (Matt. 27:3).

(2.) Metanoeo, meaning to change one’s mind and purpose, as the result of after knowledge. This verb, with (3) the cognate noun _metanoia_, is used of true repentance, a change of mind and purpose and life, to which remission of sin is promised.

Evangelical repentance consists of (1) a true sense of one’s own guilt and sinfulness; (2) an apprehension of God’s mercy in Christ; (3) an actual hatred of sin (Ps. 119:128; Job 42:5, 6; 2 Cor. 7:10) and turning from it to God; and (4) a persistent endeavour after a holy life in a walking with God in the way of his commandments.

The true penitent is conscious of guilt (Ps. 51:4, 9), of pollution (51:5, 7, 10), and of helplessness (51:11; 109:21, 22). Thus he apprehends himself to be just what God has always seen him to be and declares him to be. But repentance comprehends not only such a sense of sin, but also an apprehension of mercy, without which there can be no true repentance (Ps. 51:1; 130:4).”

Vane or Hunter may have magically created an artificial spirit/soul to keep her alive.
I am thinking that is why the Iron Horse is vanquished at the same time.
