    Happy Mother’s day Erin.

Now about what is going on here. I’m really feeling bad for Vane now. Poor gal’s got two bullet wounds in her head. Look how the fire is leaving her blue eyes. Can these two really “Exorcise” the demon within. Will John Henry allow it. All I can say is these two better work fast, because I got a feeling there’s something coming down the road , and it NOT going to be friendly.

Ok, I will retract my criticism that the priest brought a really awkward club to a gun fight. And nice shootin’ Padre.

(And Erin: I went back and looked at the ‘click’ panel from last week. Upon review I could see the hammer had been pulled back. Your art amazes me.)

I would suggest starting the “exorcism” right there, with an axe.

Assuming, as js said, JHH will allow it. For some reason, I have my doubts.

Yeah, I have to agree: that was a pretty impressive trick shot of the priest.

Also, exorcise Vane? Well, that’s a twist. Though I wonder if you can exorcise her…

He’s not a priest. He’s Brother Matteo — a brother, or monk if you will.

The priest looks like he’s thinking, “We’re who the what how? You’re kidding, right?”

/Concur – I think his expression in that 2nd last panel is my favorite thing on the page

Erin, I just noticed something in the series of pictures of the bullet fired from the priest deringer. The last picture where the bullet hits the trigger on Vane’s mini gun. Sparks? NOOOOOOOOOO! Sorry my dear, lead does not spark when it hits anything. Oh I’m never going to hear the end of this.

Lead doesn’t spark, and if you look you’ll notice the bullet has just sort of mushroomed in there but for “sparks” all you need is superhot particles. It’s hitting what looks to be a steel spring, the release of which is additionally hitting heck knows what, knowing Vane. I think there’s plenty of spark fuel, especially for a fantasy comic.

If you spend a lot of time in indoor ranges you’ll frequently see “sparks” from the steel backstop (it’s dark enough indoors to be visible) even with lead.

      “Sorry my dear.”

(Erin, no wonder you quit interacting so much in the comments. Great update & happy mom day)

Ah, Some Cat made my point better, and with less speculation. Sorry I typedbefore reading what you said, mate.
        Happy momma’s day, Erin.

If anyone is going to be pedantic then the big comment should be about the extractor grove that the bullet has.

Rootin’ tootin’ shootin’, Padre. [Sorry, ScholarofFortune, I wrote that afore I read the comments.]
Finally, the two divines look as though they know what they’re dealing with, after a fashion, and they may even have the skills to deal with same, though I’d be a lot more worried that Hunter is still feeling hale and hearty enough to kibbitz after being Gatling-gunned and all that. Perhaps the blood cancelled his ability to use his powers on any save himself … or perhaps it is keeping him alive. Creepy!
Also, jsfury, you’re right, of course, but the bullet is also hitting a coil and some brass … mightn’t some of that spark?

Honzinator, Keepin’ in mind this is a fantasy web comic, or any comic for that matter, the artist is free to do as they wish. I’m just being, “that darn perfectionist” again. But really, lead does not spark regardless of what it hits. when we see that in the hollyweed movies, it just bullshit and hype to get the audiences all psyched. Real bullet impacts are more or less boring. Lead will fragment though. We do love this comic though, don’t we? 😉

jsfury, you’ve a point that clearly piques my interest, so no apologies needed for me, and I suspect Erin can handle it too, but the bullet mashes other bits of metal together as it smashes into Vane’s main weapon was what I was trying to say … and i suppose it could always have some alloy or a front-end coating (which wouldn’t prevent the back of the bullet from expanding to catch the rifling in the barrel) for armour penetration.

How would you exorcise a revenant? She’s undead.

(hehe. That is a real email address.)

I forgot to add: cool that you used a rimfire cartridge. Prior to smokeless powders like cordite, the lower pressure cartridges were often rimfire rather than centerfire, like the Civil War’s Spencer Repeating Rifle.

An interesting point Schlump, as for the best of my knowledge, derringers were a cartridge type pistol. I don’t remember any being black powder. This fantasy western/steampunk comic is just so damn captivating. Again, our illustrious writer and illustrator keeps us guessing.

On closer investigation I see there are black powder derringers. (There, I finally spelled that right.) However, the one being used by the monk/padre is that of the Remington style. A rim fire type. Interesting.

    Finally. I caught up.

I lost this comic in a PC crash a while back and I forgot the name for 3 years. I never bookmarked it.

The good part is that I was caught up before and have had 3 years of new content.

The bad part is I’m now caught up.
