I know it’s a foregone conclusion at this point… but this cannot end well! I really, truly hope that John was not about to tell Fairfax that he can ‘fix’ Emma… that would not only be cruel beyond imagining, but it’d likely set off dear sweet Vane. It’ll all end it tears anyhow, mark my words.
I must say, despite all the death and destruction visited upon the innocent and unwary by Hunter, Vane, and Co… it’s still deeply affecting to see poor foolish Emma lying dead and disregarded there upon the hay. We all of us die… but few of us die so abruptly and after such shocking pain and so sudden a reversal from delirious happiness to abject despair.
Yeah, I for one get to languish in both existential angst and the futility of desire as told by those unfulfilled, and that rotten pancreatic cancer. Is it any wonder I vote Cthulhu every year? Hmmph!
Captain Kirk woulda beamed from up on High at that punch. How about a couple more? Not digging either of these protagonists, but I’ve always been a sucker for lean, mean girls with eyes of burning coals. Oh, yeah, and redheads, too! <3
I am with Brent O’Gara at 5:06 and Corwin at 5:52 … ‘cept I’d turned over and gotten a few more minutes of shut-eye (a benefit of living in ‘Bama is a 5 minute commute). Seriously, though, I still somehow like (and fear) Vane and find the offer of “fixing” Emma. Also, why does everyone seem to like Emma? She was a poor foolish girl who didn’t deserve what came to her, but as the father of a girl who has to deal with such types, I instantly disliked her, and while I could imagine her wising up had she lived, she was rather dreadful and was actively pursuing a deeply (and obviously) abusive personality for her own vanity/entertainment. Being a victim, or dead, makes it hard for us to speak ill of people, especially with her poor father on scene, but …
Well, here I am again, boss lady! If you still remember me, that is. I just caught up again, after a, well, about a year since I caught up the last time… it wasn’t planned, but a lot of stuff happened, namely getting a new job, etc, due to which I forgot about them webcomics.
You, likewise, were busy as a steam-powered bee, battling them tablets and doing them kickstarts. As for your art, being tardy or not, it’s still as good as ever, and you certainly got even better at ruining people’s lives :P.
And here I thought we won’t get anything as emotionally devastating as Wayward. Noo, we got ourselves a permanent disfigurement which, already apparently not being bad enough, Dr. Vane cured the only way she knows how – a high-velocity application of lead. Sigh, it’s always the innocent ones…
Side note, I wonder how long before Broken Sky falls apart. The extent of the damage done there is colossal.
The floor is on fire
Worse, the HAY on the floor is on fire. See: Great Chicago Fire, 1871.
Ignore the blather about the cow.
Moo!!! The cow protests against human stupidity in bringing open flames into its barn.
From the last iteration of Mighty Mouse in the 1980s, I am put in mind of the supervillain/freedom fighter, The Cow!
Super fast healing and selfrepairing abilities: He no longer bleeds, even his coat is restored and cleaned. I want this one for my childs.
Eugh. How embarrassing. The coat, at least, was an oversight born of stuffing too many envelopes. Fixed.
Sorry, we’ve been immunized against death, putrification, and permanent bodily damage.

Spot on Brent.

God I can’t wait for the next installment!!
