Jua, I’m thinking the same thing regarding the waltz. Now about the interstitial steampunk-meets-tribal-tattoo gear-wheel/fishook-thorn thingies. You mean the pocket watch?
Erin, I’m not sure if it’s the lighting, but Vane’s face in these last couple of pages and even her color is very different then it’s been in the past. I must say I really like it. She has a lot more depth with this lighting. Panel four shows real anger and vengeance she is feeling. You humble me ma’am with your command of expression. Really love this comic.
From what I’ve figured so far? Vane and JHH married. She saved his life with a spinegraft. She accidentily crafted the plague on sterois and got infected by it. She tried to save herself through science. JHH went through a looot of dead prostitutes to figure out how to revive her with pyromancy (she wasn’t dead yet when he started. she didn’t approve) Sooo, hate for JHH for making her a Revenant with the costs of qutie a few lifes. I don’t think she is mostly driven by jelousy? She was kinda blase about it when JHH asked if she was wearing a weddding band in Broken Sky, and showed that she wasn’t. I said ‘mostly’ though. A waltz they probably both danced to, and JHH with a girl in his arms… The vilest kind of nostalgia I guess?
Vane’s reaction to the song! Oh God she looks like she is about to loose her usual icy calm composure!!
Blood will be spilled I predict!!
Erin, how you like to make us suffer. How much longer before everything goes to Hell?
I always wonder what the tune is. My mind keeps wanting it to be “The Beautiful Tennessee Waltz.”
Unrelatedly, I LOVE those interstitial steampunk-meets-tribal-tattoo gear-wheel/fishook-thorn thingies. I want them to be jewelry.

Make that 3 votes for “Tennessee Waltz”.
Oh, boy, this “old saw” clearly pulls up some memories for Vane. Major violence in 5… 4… 3…
Oh, and no, he’s talking about decorations between the frames, not the pocket watch. “Interstitial” means “between the spaces”.
Yeah, I saw that after I posted my comment. Probably should have edit that after I realized what he was talking about.
Oh boy, this buildup is getting good.
When this blows up it’s gonna get messy, Vane doesn’t seem too stoic now.

Plot twist: Hunter is shot by Emma’s mom right before the bow-chicka-wow-wow starts.
Vane looks mad enough to bite a bit in three pieces.
I kept thinking this is abut the transmission of some plague … but is it merely jealousy?

Vane didn’t see the sign above the door on her way in, did she?

always awesome
