I don’t think she does ‘likeable’. Not much of her personality is left I guess… I think we saw her coldly calculating, angry and curious so far, which is a far smaller range of emotions than JHH has displayed.
…and to be honest, I appreciate Vane’s single minded revenge-trip, justified or not.
Has anyone brought up before that Vane seems an awful lot like a revenant? It explains why she doesn’t seem to care about much besides killing Hunter, and why she’s so OK with collateral damage. (Plus the glowing eyes, complexion, and rising from the coffin.)
A) Vane, I’m disappointed in you. Plant several sticks of dynamite at the entrance of the mine to seal off the exit. THEN drop explosives through the ventilation shaft.
B) is that a real song? Is there a YouTube or recording online where I could listen?
C) In Erin’s usual excellent fashion I am uncertain about everyone’s motivations. Hunter’s would be easy to presume, but he’s shown no actual interest in women in that way. Vane has attempted to kill JHH before, but the flashbacks make this seem almost more of an attempt on Emma as her husband.
It’s not a real song; it’s an NTOniverse song inspired by several old folk songs. Sorry you can’t have a listen, but using real world songs didn’t seem in keeping with the high fantasy setting!
Do the musical notes correspond to the actual envisioned tune? (My musical talent ends at playing the radio, but I’m sure I can find some way to play what’s written.)
The correspondence is vague; I mean the staff is half missing & there aren’t anywhere near enough notes & the ones I did put aren’t really sitting anywhere on the half-missing staff, lol, but I will say I mostly based this on the old traditional Gold Watch & Chain: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rFztBx-5PI&list=PL00BCA750944877A2
This (whole) story makes me a little bit confused. Either it’s very slow to give its secrets, either I missed a few things, but I really don’t know where it’s going. This said, the art is wonderful, each page is gorgeous, the colors and light are extraordinary, the characters are interesting, so I’m always glad to discover a new update…
Not only is Miss Emma unfazed, it would seem it inspires her to entice Hunter to come along with her to what might be a rough and rowdy affair! I love her expressions particularly. 🙂
Any young person in a mining town knows all about dynamite… it’s practically their only toy. Honestly one stick of dynamite (or a black powder bomb of that size) in the open isn’t any danger at all unless you foolishly stand right over it (I’ve played with both myself). Besides… Hunter ‘saved’ her from the blast, and a bit of danger and excitement always was the best aphrodisiac.
Ah, that would explain why our macho mage didn’t just control the fire on the fuse to keep the situation static. He used it as an excuse to get close with the lovely chanteuse.
The perfect song
I am seriously beginning to hate the good doctor. Not that she ever struck me as particularly likable in the first place.

Well that one way a critic can express their disapproval.

yep
That’s pretty much what I’ve thought since the beginning. I do believe that Vane Black is a revenant.
Everybody’s critic.

Yes, it’s a happy little tune. Didn’t you notice the smiley face in the middle of the score?

So Miss Emma is actually not phased by a dynamite explosion that almost killed her . . .
Hell, she’s not even curious. Too infatuated with Hunter I guess. Must be a terribly lonely place in that cold old mining town.
Not only is Miss Emma unfazed, it would seem it inspires her to entice Hunter to come along with her to what might be a rough and rowdy affair! I love her expressions particularly. 🙂
Am I the only one that sees Vane as the protagonist and Hunter as the antagonist? He just creeps me out something horrible.

Damn it, Vane, you just can’t stand to see John so much as making eyes at another redhead, can you?
Sweetie, I’d worry a bit more about the explosion that nearly killed if I were you.
