Really enjoy checking in on this comic, found it as a link from SSSScomic. NTO has terrific illustration, depth and layers to the coloring, and expressive characters. Along with SSSScomic, it’s clearly in the top tier of webcomics out there.
Now…, how to support it?
Observations on “getting paid for art” – I can’t be alone in the fact that:
1.) I don’t participate in Kickstarter (past bad experience), nor any other “Give artist money, artist must now offer something” scheme. I do not want to place a burden on the artist to give me some free thing. I already enjoy the comic for free! Save the sense of obligation/time/expense – I just want to give cash, and know the enjoyable thing keeps getting updated when I check in on it.
2.) Consider a Paypal donation button! I prefer this, as it’s easy and straightforward: I like your thing/cause, here’s money. Done. My paypal account is like funny-money to me, I forget about it, remember it, then spend it on something in the moment. After checking in on your comic, I’m feeling the appreciation, and trigger-happy.
3.) Change the comment system! NTO gets jack for comments with the current approach. Take a close look at Minna Sundbergs SSSScomic which uses Disqus – She gets either side of 1000 comments per update…, and NTO is a link on her site! It’s how I found NTO. These Disqus users are kooky for comics, how many would click a Paypal donate button in the moment? (Minna has described some law in her home country that prevents this sort of donation, so she’s limited to fund-me-scheme sites & heavy upfront-cost book sales, but NTO is where paypal fully works)
Please consider these observations! Your work deserves recognition, and you to earn a living by doing so. I can honestly say I may never buy a book, and I don’t want time/money consuming gifties from a donation scheme site. Busking on side streets can get a buck, but in addition, try going to where the traffic flows and the dollars are loose. Let me, and others, toss a fiver in the hat now and again! Small appreciation from me, huge for you when many people have a way to do it.
I vote against Disqus. I’m not setting up some central program to track all my comments even if a competent search can do the same thing. Sorry but privacy concerns, employer searches and other considerations make me say no. Just my $0.25 opinion.
Ditto on anti Disqus. I like this style of commenting more.
I use Disqus on a few blogs I read, but I have separate profiles for the political and religious boards I comment on VS my random and slightly crazy webcomic profile comments. Even with privacy mode activated, google search can yank up my old comments creepy easy. I don’t want to imagine people reading those comments and putting together a picture of myself I would much rather bosses and coworkers not figure out.
I had kinda hoped it was Vane and she was gonna actually have a conversation with him rather than just trying to kill him immediately. Ah well, that *would* be rather out of character for her.
“…Longer than you folks, probably. Because my psycho ex-wifefrenemy will likely slaughter everyone in a five mile radius while trying to exact whatever kind of revenge it is she’s looking for. So yeah, y’all got about five days to live, or less, less’n y’all pack your things and high-tail it. Nice pants, by the way.”
Gasp! She’s wearing pants, the hussy! I can tell she has LEGS! I must go to my fainting couch. ::swoons::
C’mon, everybody knows you don’t faint till she shows her ankles! ;P

Best wishes.
Just noticed the donation, a made use of it!
Didn’t observe it before – Perhaps it could be 6 times bigger, flashing? (maybe I just need that…. ;/)
Now I’ll quietly look around and see if you’re already using Disqus somehow…. xD

Edit:

Watching the PWS Kickstarter is giving me frickin’ heart palpitations.

She seems completely unfazed by the state of his back.
