Is Vane still shooting her potassium hydroxide bullets* ? Or did she improve her bullets again (and I forgot about it)? Either way, that would explain why things hit by such bullets have a tendency to catch on fire.
And as always, an amazing level of details. Must have took you ages to draw the carpet and the firestorm.
(not sure if caustic products would set paper or clothes on fire in real life, but they would definitively put holes in them, so don’t try it at home…)
————- *Unlike last time when I ended being totally wrong, let’s check the archive before posting… Got it, I think. The start of Baron’s Crossing: https://www.nexttownover.net/?p=660
The firestorm actually doesn’t look like it required much effort, it’s just transparent swirls with some highlights on the foreground and erased behind the guy.
So the wind mage redirects the bullet and accomplishes Vane’s apparent goal for her. Then he gets completely wrapped up in trying to contain the flame and there goes Hunter again! Now what’s HIS plan? He’s got the book, for sure. Love the movement of the wind swirls and how Vane is blown off her pins again-she’s got to be dry and lightweight as a stick nearly.
Erin I think you should do a poll about how people read the comic. Feels to me like a lot of readers read these weekly, as standalone strips and forget details of what’s goin on.
hey guys, i’m just now realizing why Vane seemed so surprised to see JHH on that train. JHH was there for the dowser, and Vane was there for the TRAIN. she wanted to take the engine car to fix up Diamonds and JHH just so happened to be there. for the spectral resonance dowser.
JHH knows a diversion when he sees one! Great action sequence – and Prof C doesn’t seem to be able to get any kind of break from the fire threat. But his reaction time is amazing.
If that library catches fire I bet the professor joins the growing numbers following our main characters, out for blood and justice.
I think the wind and fire whirlwinds are drawn really well – and it doesn’t seem like an easy thing to get right.
Jeez that IS a great catch! i thought the fire looked a bit odd, but it never occurred to my to look at it like letters. the attention to detail in this comic is simply mind-boggling!
Dude just wants to protect his library.
C’mon you guys, why you gotta’ be like that about this?
They don’t like readin’

And yes, I would have been wrong again.

Beautiful job on the wind and fire mix!
Thanks for the update!
I was totally wrong, and it is awesome!

If I ever find myself doing that, it’s time for an archive dive-which of course lets meexperience all the great art over again. 🙂
uhh, so what ever happened, pray-tell, to Vane’s posse…or was that not really HER posse so much an A posse that just followed her around for a bit?

Is it just me, or is someone declaring “WAR” in panel 5?
SCOTT! WOW!!! I didn’t see that. Great catch son, good eye. 😉

Now in my head I’m hearing Bugs Bunny saying “Of course you know, dis means war!”
