I’m guessing he had amic magic/illusion trick that the boy is talking about. But the wording reminds him of Vane’s ‘came back wrong’ revival.
Another great page, I would single out the shot of Doc through the window. And style pints for panel five’s frame getting vharred and warped by it own fire. A memory poorly contained it would.
But the favorite would have to be panel 4. Hunter’s expression is so believable in repressing, something. Frustration, anger, pain?
Few authors establish characters so well with gradual evolution. No infodumps, and it doesn’t feel strung out. We learn by pieces, and while eager for more the pace is such I for one am pleased to wait and wonder until the next puzzle piece falls.
And his pained “Sorta.” Love that expression. I feel the same way about the pace. It makes the story feel very…measured. Still ferociously exciting at times, but also careful and deliberate. Hunter is getting painted with many translucent layers.
This update was more than I hoped it would be. Thanks, author!
I doubt that Hunter would be so mean. So far, he’s shown that he can be cruel to those who get in his way, but why would he go after the boy, and for what, an old poster? No, he’s not mean. I think the reason he wants to show the boy another trick is to distract him from the funeral going on outside.
God, this is a amazing page, the look on hunters face, Your charecters have may facets, will we be seeing Vanes memories soon too, she must have a background story too.
I love that poster! What a great way to intro a backstory, as well as surprise the reader. I was also expecting his face to be on another kind of poster 🙂
I just got your book! It turned out WONDERFULLY! I have to take pictures so I can tell everyone about it!! Thanks again, Erin!
I got a strong sense of deja-vu when I saw the poster. I didn’t make the connection until I visited another webcomic: Hunter’s pose is the same in the poster and the NTO ad. I don’t know if that was done on purpose. I do wonder if Hunter may have felt something similar.
You know, I always have to come back and read the comments, because I always miss some tiny details which you are so skilled at including. Awesome. Hence why I really enjoy this comic. 🙂
Am I the only one thinking that the woman on fire has to be Vane? Something went wrong with his magic trick and now she’s hunting him down to take revenge.
Oh man, I am so going to burst into tears if/when this little kid dies! He’s adorable!! On lighter news, I got my book in the mail over the weekend, I’m so excited to read!!!!!
This chapter has added a great new dimension to the storyline, good job! ^^
Nice poster. A devil on both shoulders eh?

Cool poster. 🙂 I think most of us expected something of a different nature. You got us! 😉
Deeper and deeper…
Great strip.
Oh JHH… which part is “sorta” true, the woman having been burned alive, or that she was fine afterwards?!
I love the fact that he appears to be wearing stage makeup in his poster.
Is the new trick going to be one where the boy suddenly becomes much more ill, and the poster “disappears?”
Love the dog’s face in the third panel too. “Hey! Hey! You’re excited! I’m excited too! What are we excited about?! I like this game!”

The doctor is wheeling a body outside. I think he’s trying to distract the kid.
For my next trick, I’m going to make your upstairs neighbor disappear!
More like….For my next trick, I’ll give you a cool new hairstyle using the dog’s tail!
Nailed it.
As a magician myself, I have to say that poster may be the most epic magic poster EVER!

Look at the bottom left corner, the assistant, could that be his pursuer now?

Hey, you’re right! Comparing the two, it looks like Hunter still has the same flair/flare, but maybe less of the gravitas…
And goddamn if panel 3 isn’t just painfully energetic! 😀
I love that doggie. Sublime work as always.

What day does this comic update on?
Saturdays! 😮
Called it, it was a poster,
Am I the only one thinking that the woman on fire has to be Vane? Something went wrong with his magic trick and now she’s hunting him down to take revenge.
Beautiful art as always!

Hmmm…
I always know he isn’t simple old bad witch.
