This comic is one of the most beautiful I have ever found, I only wish the archive was bigger! I just read through it all and I’m having trouble comprehending I won’t be able to continue for a full week. It’s tragic, really.
Very much obliged for the kind words and sincerely sorry I don’t update more — it’s always been my intent to go to at least two a week but it seems to keep getting less feasible than moreso.
Well someone had him pegged early on. Devil Wanderer sure seems an apt description. Can anyone else make out what the writing in the watch says? I got -of- and -end of time-. Is it , To the Devil Wanderer, Love ______ of ________ Till the end of time or It’s the end of time ? I’m not sure. If you use zoom it just gets blurry.
More thanks for providing the detail! Too bad Hunter couldn’t move his thumb out of the way. 😉
I also just realized that the flashbacks, the memories, aren’t just old and withered, but actively smoldering. Almost like there’s some sort of quality symbolism there…
You’re quite welcome, guys. It wasn’t meant to be illegible and probably won’t be in the print and CBZ versions; it was a crummy quirk of my chosen web resolution.
Anyways it’s nice incentivising folks perusing the comments. 🙂
Thanks for the detail, I wasn’t getting it hardly at all. Also… I guess the local parish isn’t all that powerful in this town, what with a giant sculpture of boobs in the middle of town. You’d think they’d be all a flutter about such a den of sin and blah blah blah.
Stunning. I love your art and creativity. I’m saddened by all the horses getting hurt, but what’s a story without some bloodshed? I look forward to your next post 🙂
Thank you kindly and I share your empathy for the horses; with such resilient central characters, though, you’re right: there’d be a real uninteresting lack of consequence.
xD They’ve got a man’s basic needs, right there! “Bed” “Baths” and “Girls.” Absolutely love this comic! Your eye for detail amazes me and this is just… Wow! Such a beautiful comic. I found it today and totally devoured it. I’m very disappointed I have to wait a week to read on but I’ll survive 😛
By the way, I love how you draw the horses so expressively!
Now I can read the inscription inside the watch cover :-), I have to say it’s exactly the sort of wording I would expect from such a gift (not that I am an expert in 19th-century poetry and memento). I mean, it feels right, in-universe and in-character: we don’t know who give him the watch, but obviously someone who cared deeply for him and his roguish ways. We learn so much by so little details… Or maybe you are just very good at firing our imagination.
And now that another reader pointed it to us in a previous page, I readily noticed the weird red thing on the back of Hunter’s neck on this page. Is the white part his hairs or more of the weird thing? Is it a tattoo, a sign of his powers, or something else entirely, maybe even alive? Oh the suspense 🙂
I just devoured your entire archive and I have to say that NOT ONLY is this one of the most beautiful comics I’ve ever read, but the storytelling on display is masterful. You deserve all the success this incredible comic will no doubt bring your way.

If it means continuing to produce and publish high quality work like this, take all the time you need!
I concur. The art is phenomenal. This year I am planning on ordering myself a print with mister Hunter and his wicked horse.

Oh, heck. The entire inscription being illegible is not Working As Intended. Here you go.
Thank you for the detail!
Just read from start to finish — such a wonderful mysterious story, and so beautifully wrought. Wow.

Oh, thank you for the detail! I couldn’t make out any of it.

Very much obliged and sorry about the wait!
Love the level of details on your pages.

It’s a scar. I’m guessing electricity, the way it “continues” past the hairline.
just found this place today. very nice work!
I discovered this story last night, read it in an instant, and am now happily waiting for the next page.
Someone likes Rushdie.
Salman Rushdie? I gotta confess I’ve never read any of his work and know him mostly through fatwa jokes. I’m curious what you mean though.

Thank you so much! That means a lot coming from another creator.
Hmmm, I think the watch may have initially been a gift that later turned into a curse…for him. He has incredible power, but at a price.
Still very much in love with (and intrigued by) this comic. 😀
And I’m so happy you used IV instead of IIII on the watch. That irks me to no end for some reason.
Bet that watch is from our little Ms Black…
