“Their brands were still on fire, and their hooves were made of steel” This would be the one horse who could catch the devils heard in these endless skies- uh, got distracted by a song thats been playing in my head since my head put together *brand* and *on fire*
Awesome. So Steampunk vs Magic it is? …I am sorry for the next town over, that will be stampeeded by FireHorseâ„¢ and SteamPunkHorseâ„¢, carrying Flamewhipping Hunter and Gun-totting Angel Eyes.
I figured Hunter was whipping up some major mojo, but this turned out even cooler than I was expecting. The flame effects are great, especially in the last panel, and the reflection in her eye is also a very nifty touch.
SO COOL. Love this page. My thoughts on the plot: Okay, so Hunter must have resurrected Vane at some point, via fire magic and the brand on her hip, just like Outlaw here. Hence, her fiery hair and death-like pallor– and of course the scene where she rises from her coffin in flames. Did he kill her, THEN resurrect her? Did Vane gain her mastery over weapons and cyborg technology by herself, or was some of Hunter’s power transferred to her during the resurrection? Outlaw has obviously gained some, er, fiery characteristics– maybe Vane gained a kind of super-blacksmithy-type ability as HER “fire talent.” On the other hand, maybe she already had some power and refused to give it up to Hunter, so he killed and resurrected her in the hopes of having control over her and the power– which is why she’s so pissed. Where is this power coming from anyway? How is it connected with the glowing sunflowers, and that lady’s necklace? Where do the hints of Vane & Hunter’s romantic past come into play? Are the horses dead and resurrected too, or do the brands merely indicate ownership? If something is dead and then resurrected, can it die again? Hearts was shot and killed, but Vane doesn’t seem affected by bullets or hanging…and Diamonds can bleed, but can also survive being cyborg-ized. How did Vane end up with Diamonds anyway? What color will the fourth horse of the apocalypse be? Is Outlaw’s new name Spades or Clubs? MORE STORY PLZ!!!!
I suspect that he didn’t kill her, at least not intentionally, as that would be a rather odd choice for a character that has otherwise been entirely collected. I mean, why bring someone who has reason to kill you back from the dead?
My guess, Hunter killed her by accident and the brand was his attempt at making amends, only she didn’t want to be brought back, and was not please about dying in the first place.
Aphrodite’s Child; 666; The Four Horsemen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=selfqEH-JnY Just in case y’all want to check out this blast from the past. (Believe me the other visuals w/ the music were worse)
Which brings me back to the first panel… sooooo our “heroine” was reborn in flames and for some reason she hates the guy who just resurected a horse in flaming sensation… fancy that.
This is by far the best western in excistence. Steampunk weapons, undead anti hero, and a bad ass outlaw with fire powers. It doesn’t get any better than this.
I just discovered your webcomic because of an ad to fund your book on another comic I read and I’m hooked! I love it and I’m going to buy the book so will contribute to getting it published. Very, very nice! I’m completely fooled here, have no idea where you are going with this and can’t wait to find out! A lot of other folks are tossing around some pretty interesting guesses and I think I will wait until I have the book in hand so I can burn through all of it at once and see what happens! It’s beautifully drawn, I love the breaks in the fourth wall, the sepia stains here and there, the varying layouts keep it fresh and I love the scorched edges and burn outs! I will share this and like it on facebook if you have a FB page! I can’t say enough good things about this but thank you for creating this and sharing it with us!
Interesting.
I like what you did with the layout.
ho-lee shit.
Holy flaming fetlocks, Batman! That burning blood, those magic tendrils, and the fact that the wounds sealed…eet’s too much! 😀
The next page can’t come soon enough. 😮
Talk about a hot ride…..
… and just like that the fickle avatar randomizer is over Jasper and obsessed with Renfro.
Hey! You’re not supposed to use that! It’s not the apocalypse yet!
And as an added bonus, you can toast marshmallows while you run from angry undead female bounty hunters. 😀
Probably going to be tough making a subtle entrance into town on that thing…
“FLAME ON!” lol
Pony! Transform and Roll Out!
I bet this is comfy even in the cold seasons.
Just don’t have that extra helping of beans at lunch, and you’ll be ok.

Only thing I have to say, Despite the way he went about it…
AWESOME!
The heat…
Hunter doesn’t want to have kids.
Aw Yeah !!
She needs to add a fire extinguisher to her arsenal;)
What the………….AWESOMEª

Well, she had a flashback of Hunter branding her.
She had to be alive at this point o.ô
So he branded her. Thats not a nice thing to do.
And since this brand seems to have occult functionality…
I doubt this was an accident and/or unplanned.
Horses of the Apocalypse? Hey…you’re right! :u
Won’t the fourth horse be white, then?
From deep in my drug hazed past…
Aphrodite’s Child 666;
I saw the second Horse
the horseman held a sword
The leading horse is white
The second horse is red
The third one is a black,
The last one is a green

Hey! It’s a cameo appearance of the horse of the original GHOST RIDER! Can’t wait till the next page.
Only thing to outrun an Iron Horse, a DemonSteed.
Which brings me back to the first panel… sooooo our “heroine” was reborn in flames and for some reason she hates the guy who just resurected a horse in flaming sensation… fancy that.
Well that is entirely unsettling in an awesome way.
LOVE IT!!! You have one of the best comics, print or web, out there, and everyone needs to see this!
Thank you kindly for the feedback, stranger — I hope this means I can count on your help getting the word out.
Wow, this page is so full of great work, I don’t even know where to begin.
Okay, I just read all the way up to here, and I am impressed, awed, amazed…..there’s a lot of words for what I’m feeling.
But seriously, this a really, really beautiful work of art.
I’m gonna refer this around and all. Can’t wait for the next page!!
Thank you so much!
Seconding, quadrupling, whatevering the awesome! I will be sharing also~~
This comic is so well done its worth the wait.

My first thought: Ghost Rider!
That’s one hell of a Cutie Mark
