I remember that panel! As gorgeous as it was on its own, it looks even better with the rest of the page.

Great page! Are we ever going to get a full flashback sequence?

Count on it. Eventually, anyway. Can’t tip my hand early.

      Thank you kindly!

oh dear. Is Diamonds going to have to make a diffucult moral disicion?! Just shoot him already! In the Knees! The flowers are amazing by the way- spectacular glowy effects. Is it his magic or the night that makes them bloom?

your art is amazing, but the awesomeness of late with the burning panel borders has brought the usual borders to my attention. Looking back they jump out at me and make me wonder why you don’t use a less saturated or metallic color and maybe a subtle metal or paper texture. In most comics I wouldn’t even notice, but the rest of your art, both in the comic and the site itself is so amazing that the bright yellow faux matting seems odd.

Thanks for the kind words and the feedback, but your post pretty much confirms the borders are working as intended. The burn-away flashbacks stand out because they’re supposed to; the flatter, moment-to-moment golds recede into the background because they have no business competing with the action. Honestly, if they were rendered any more they’d be drowning out my flat color fills and further confusing the eye — especially when I use the more elaborate, fretworkish ones.

It’s nice to hear another perspective on them, though; the borders have been pretty universally regarded as too busy already.

Those flowers remind me of Final Fantasy AC so much.
