I would be interested to see how her guns fire. I haven’t figured out if it uses clockwork gears to propel the bullet or if it uses air pressure, or even if it’s something else. Can’t help but feel bad for the horse though.
The blast from the barrel of the gun indicates its still using gunpowder, but since she’s not reloading, I’d say its using clockwork to act as a repeating rifle instead of having to reload between shots. Basically, clockwork strikes the firing pin, then ejects the casing, and puts a new bullet in place… A more complicated way of doing what our current guns do.
More or less this. It’s supposed to be a converted repeating rifle (a Henry knock-off); she’s disabled the lever action and semi-automated it with clockwork gadgetry. All it’s really handling is ejecting and chambering, so she can just pull the trigger. Now don’t anyone try to analyze the actual apparatus; it’ll only end in tears.
Its very simple. Considering that there are flames out the front of the weapon it has to be gunpowder. Its either recoil or gas operated just as modern automatics are. The exposed gears are simply the added apparatus to make certain the action closes after blowback. Since the earliest autoloaders were gas operated that would be my guess.
Hmmm…a notice stating that no “real” animals were hurt in the making of this comic should be posted. Don’t wanna get blacklisted by the PETA in these highly politically correct age!

Since the whiskey bottle in the saloon was dated 1876, I guess that she’s been too busy chasing Hunter to trade up for a Winchester.

I love how many overlapping actions are happening at once in this page.
Oh no! The horsie!

COGS!!!!!
It had to be said.
Obviously the horse will rise as a flaming skeletal abomination.
Heyy…
OMG… poor horse. The last panel is so graphic!
That’s the first time i’ve ever seen something get it’s throat slit with a bullet. Who knew
Yeah I’m thinking she’s an undead of some sort. Those big caliber guns kick like a mule and she’s aiming and firing with one arm.
